You don't have to stay home to spend little for your Super Bowl celebrations and eating, as CBS4's Lisa Petrillo shows you in the following restaurants.
What began as a single, Tampa-based restaurant in 1998, soon grew to 250 franchises around the country. Beef 'O' Brady's, a family friendly concept of fresh food at fair prices now has five South Florida locations. The one in Davie opened just three months ago.
At the helm of the Davie eatery is former Miami Dolphin player Kenny Mixon, who always dreamed of the restaurant business, even when he was defending the fins on the playing field.
"I've always wanted to do something in the restaurant bar industry," Mixon said, "So I went with it, it's a great brand."
So where's the beef at Beef 'O' Brady's? It's in the hefty eight-ounce burger featured in their signature cheese burger wrap.
Kenny cooks in the kitchen and socializes with the guests. There are big and small TV screens throughout the restaurant, making it the perfect place to enjoy a popular cheeseburger wrap, chicken wrap or a tasty patty melt, all priced under $10. All of this is cooking just in time for Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.
And during half-time, try the dessert. There's the gigantic fried cheesecake or the fried double stuff Oreo with ice cream. Petrillo describes it as sinful.
Then, for the tried and true, there's The Sports Grill off 100th Avenue and Sunset Drive in South Miami. This family owned and operated restaurant has been serving up its signature juicy and delicious chicken wings, burgers and more to hungry customers for 22 years.
Whether it's lunch or dinner, The Sports Grill boasts cooked-to-order fresh food from its busy kitchen. Some eye-catching samplings off the menu include a Philly cheese steak, a grilled chicken sandwich, a burger and everybody's favorite Super Bowl grub, chicken wings.
