Joan Murray is an award winning general assignment reporter for CBS4 News in the Broward Bureau. She joined the station in August 2001 from WPBF-TV, the ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach, just two weeks before the attacks on September 11th. On the evening of the attacks, she broke the story that the FBI was in South Florida on the trail of some of the terrorists.

Prior to her arrival at WPBF, Joan was a correspondent for Conus Florida. While working for the satellite news service, she started the state capital bureau and fed daily stories to affiliates in Florida and throughout the country. Among the major stories she covered were Hurricane Andrew, the Amtrak disaster in Louisiana and the Miami trial of Manuel Noriega.

Previously, Joan was an evening anchor and general assignment reporter for WPTF, the NBC affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina. She began her television career at CBS affiliate WYOU.

In Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, anchoring a morning newscast and reporting for the early shows. While she was with the station, she won an Associated Press award for feature reporting and the National Press Club Award for consumer reporting.
