Ted came to WFOR in 1998 from WFTV in Orlando, FL where he was a reporter and anchor. He began his career at KGNS-TV in Laredo, Tx. From there he moved through Texas markets in Brownsville and Austin where he was the morning anchor at KTBC-TV.
Throughout his career Ted has reported on a number of major news stories. He was the first South Florida reporter in New York City following the events of 9/11 and he traveled with Elian Gonzales to Washington, DC for the hearings with Janet Reno. He was in San Antonio for Pope John Paul II's visit and was present for the shoot out between law enforcement officers and cult members of the Branch Davidian sect in Waco, TX. He as also reported stories about political riots in Mexico, rampant drug smuggling along the Texas-Mexican border and the effects of heroin and cocaine trafficking between the Carribbean, South America and Florida.
Ted is also frequently seen standing out in the rain chasing hurricanes and had gone to Nicaragua to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch.
Ted won a 2002 Emmy award for a report on Animal Overpopulation in South Florida. He is also very proud of his Cold Case reports that let viewers see what happens after the crime and assists in solving crimes and bringing closure to crime victims and their families.
A graduate of the University of Texas majoring in Journalism, Ted also attended the Universidad de Valencia in Valencia, Spain. He's fluent in both English and Spanish.
Being the youngest of 5 adopted children, Ted is an advocate for adoption as well as an advocate for victims' rights. Ted works with local charities like the Jarvis Foundation and H.E.L.P., Inc. Ted has a teenaged niece that he is raising with his partner.
