Daniel Lastra

Daniel Lastra is nightside producer for CBS4.com and also produces Noticias, news in Spanish for the website.

Daniel is a South Florida native, born and raised in Hialeah, and brings his connections to the community to his work on the web. He attended the School for Advanced Studies for High School (Miami), as well as Florida International University (FIU) where he majored in communications and minored in Spanish. He holds a Certificate in Latin American Studies, and studied in Barcelona, Spain.
 
Daniel's journalism experience began as an intern in 1997, at WLTV/Univision 23. He moved to WSVN in Miami, where he worked as a videotape editor for a year, before moving to the assignment desk. In 2001, Daniel moved to WFOR and joined the CBS4 assignment desk. In 2005, he was asked to join the newly expanded staff of CBS4.com. where he was named nightside producer.

Daniel has worked a number of major stories as an assignment editor and web producer, but those which stand out include the Shuttle Columbia Tragedy in 2003  and Covering Hurricane Wilma in 2006, both as part of the assignment desk.

Daniel was part of the Murrow Award Winning Team that covered the shooting of a man inside an American Airlines plane at MIA.
 
His hobbies include traveling, writing, working out, and fine dining.
