Jorge's Video Library Jorge Estevez came to South Florida after five years working in Central Florida as the Weekend Anchor for WFTV, the number one rated news station in Orlando.
In Orlando, Jorge anchored several major local stories and some of national significance, including the discovery and capture of Saddam Hussein. Jorge also covered the effects of 9-11 on Orlando's tourist market, NASA's Shuttle Columbia Disaster, and the severe hurricane season of 2004, during which three storms impacted the Orlando area.
Jorge landed his first broadcasting job in New York City as a reporter at News 12 The Bronx and was promoted to the position of Weekday Morning Anchor in less than a year. While in New York City, Jorge was the first reporter at the scene of the shooting death of Haitian Immigrant, Amadou Diallo by four police officers in front of Diallo's apartment building. Jorge anchored several days of live coverage of the officers' trial and their eventual acquittal. He was also the first New York City reporter in Puerto Rico for the territory's historic referendum on statehood. Jorge will remember his time in New York City for his Emmy-nominated story of a 12 year-old boy - turned author after his battle with bone marrow cancer.
Jorge's first taste of television news was with the entertainment news magazine show Access Hollywood, a job that found him spending many hours on red carpets interviewing celebrities.
The son of Cuban immigrants, Jorge is from West New York, New Jersey, and is looking forward to spending time in South Florida where most of his family currently resides. He graduated from the Rutgers University with a dual degree in Journalism and Communication.
