Tim Kephart brings with him a wealth of experience and education to CBS4.com. He arrived in Miami in February 2008.
Tim started out in broadcasting as a camera operator in Huntsville, Alabama at WHNT. He worked his way through the ranks before ending up as the weekend producer. While producing for the next year, he generated some of the highest ratings any station has ever seen in that market, ranking consistently as the #1 rated show.
He also graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Alabama during this time. Tim moved on to Memphis before deciding to complete a Master's degree at the University of Missouri.
While at the #1 journalism school at Mizzou, Tim served in multiple producing jobs and first got a taste of web producing. His thesis analyzed news content and the effects mass media conglomerates have upon it. He specifically analyzed CNN and how Time Warner's merger with AOL was covered by CNN.
After completing his M.A., Tim went to work with the Associated Press in Washington, DC. Tim served as a news production specialist and traveled the country helping stations and networks adjust to the ever-changing world of technology. He then moved on to Orlando where he served as the executive producer for the web at Central Florida News 13.
Having grown up in Alabama, Tim developed a deep love of all things football, especially college football. While he has two teams most near and dear to his heart, the University of North Alabama and Mizzou, Tim has also been known to cheer for Florida State. He earned the nickname of "The Fearless Predictor" in college for his weekly college football predictions.
Kephart writes general news and sports stories since he arrived. His primary role is the layout and design of new pages and content for CBS4.com.
In addition, Tim plays the guitar and loves all things music. He has a deep passion for rock and roll, the blues, classical, and jazz. If you look around at a major rock concert in South Florida, there's a good chance you'll see Tim enjoying the show.
