Anchors Away At Ft. Lauderdale Int'l Boat Show
Sponsors Suggest A Poor Economic Environment Will Bring Fewer Visitors
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
Boating enthusiasts from the around the world are descending on South Florida this weekend for the
49th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The show, described as one of the world's biggest, runs through Nov. 3rd.
Boating enthusiasts and amateurs will be able to browse more than $3 billion worth of superyachts, boats, marine accessories, electronics and more at six different locations on land and on the water.
More than 130,000 people are expected to attend the show, though sponsors of the event anticipate a ten percent decline in attendance because of poor economic conditions.
Because of the tough economy some shoppers say some good deals are to be had at the show. Even though business is slower than other years, local cafes and businesses are benefitting from the visitors that came for the show.
And perhaps one of the gems to feast your eyes on this year is the Casino Royale, a yacht that among other things has a Jacuzzi for 10, six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, and an outdoor air-conditioned deck with a dining area.
