When news of the bailout vote hit Wall Street, the market immediately reacted by dropping as much as 700 points before closing the day with a record one-day loss of nearly 780 points. The economic uncertainty has also struck "Main Street," and a new CBS4/SurveyUSA poll found most have no confidence in the government to help.
62 percent of those surveyed said they have no confidence in the government's ability to fix the problem. That number came immediately after the House failed to approve the economic bailout bill for Wall Street.
But, many simply don't know enough about the bill to actually throw their support behind it. 46 percent say they simply don't know enough about the bailout plan, while 38 percent oppose the bill.
A plurality of the respondents said they wanted their Congressional representative to vote in favor of the economic rescue. But, again a large number, 31 percent, said they don't know enough to say one way or the other.
Many of those who responded believe the government will fail in both the short-term (35 percent) and the long-term (38 percent).
When it came down to personal finances, almost 3 in 4 people wished they had save enough money for this current economic crisis. 52 percent said their family, "will suffer, but pull through" the economic collapse.
57 percent said they are at least somewhat concerned about the bank where they keep their money will fail. And the news may not get better anytime soon. 74 percent say they have reduced spending, which, like the failed economic bailout, may prove even more detrimental to the overall economy.
