After residents register online, they receive e-mails or text messages about criminal activity in their neighborhood, road closures, upcoming events, be on the lookout (BOLO) alerts and even Amber Alerts.

"Cleats For a Cause”

Next month, 40 men from The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami will be competing in a state wide sports tournament. There will be a lot of softball games.

There is a small problem though because the softball players have no cleats.

The Salvation Army ARC is asking the public to rummage through their closets and dig out those cleats that have been sitting around.

"New cleats would be wonderful but we would be thrilled with used ones as well," said Captain Debby Hudson.

If you have cleats in any size to donate please call Captain Hudson at (954) 463-3725.
