Broward College Moves To Four Day Week Over Summer
Most College Buildings Will Be Closed Fridays
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
In an effort to save money and energy, Broward College will be moving to a four day work week this summer.
The program will begin on Monday, May 11th and run through August 14th.
In a statement on the school's website, Broward College President J. David Armstrong, Jr said the shortened week will reduce costs while maintaining their commitment to the students and faculty
During the past challenging budget year, and with an eye to future reductions in funding, the college has undertaken several strategies to reduce fixed operational costs. Our first priority remains to keep our students and faculty in the classroom, maintain access to higher education for county residents, and provide students with excellent support services.
The college's child-care centers and libraries will not be affected by the change and continue to operate on their normal schedules.
Florida International University, Palm Beach Community College, Hillsborough Community College and Lake City Community College all offer a four-day summer work week.
