Out With The Old, Out With The Gold

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A new kind of gold party has South Florida women selling their jewelry for more than just the reason to get cash. Women can sell their jewelry for cash and also get the ex-boyfriend or ex- husband's jewelry out of their lives for good.

"I was like, 'oh my god,' I do not still have this," said one of the five women who attended a party. They gathered in a home in Miami to get rid of their jewelry, but most importantly their memories of past relationships.

"I got this my freshman year in college," said one woman. "His mother picked it out for me," said another woman at the party who was selling off bad memories. From watches, to necklaces, to key chains, anything will be accepted from a new company called, Out of Your Life.com.

The company offers women a chance to mail in their jewelry for a check. They can either accept the check within ten days or return it and get their jewelry back.

"Why in the world are we opening up our jewelry boxes over and over again to see ex-boyfriend heartache?" said Jamie Bright Forman, Executive Vice President of Out of Your Life.com

The new company offers women across the country closure, especially since many of these women will never pass the jewelry along to anyone in their family.

"I have two sons and even if I had daughters, I wouldn't pass along jewelry that an ex-boyfriend gave me anyway," said another woman at the party.

Some of the women received as much as $2,100 dollars. The money depends on the price of gold and the value of the stones on any of the pieces. But during these hard times, any little bit counts.

"Oh my God you are kidding," said one woman after receiving the dollar amount for her jewelry that was just sitting in her jewelry box at home.
