Price At The Pump Hitting More Than Your Tank

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― If you're fed up with the high price at the pump, you're in for an even pricier future. With predictions that gas will soar to 4 bucks a gallon, the pain at the pump is spreading.

Keeping that tidy lawn will likely get more expensive. Many lawn companies have already added a fuel service charge and now it's probably going up again.

"From weed eaters to edgers to blowers and mowers, they use quite a bit of gasoline," Jason Beaty of Acosta Nursery told CBS4's Ted Scouten.

And you know that pizza you love so much? Well, getting it delivered could also be more costly. Many restaurants charge for delivery and will likely charge more in the coming days.

"It could go up another 50 cents, 75 cents a delivery," said Tony Suriani of Antonio's Pizza.

If you want to get away from it all, that will cost you too.

Friday, Delta raised its fares due to gas prices and others are up $10 to 20 dollars. Cruise lines added $5 to 10 bucks a ticket and food at the grocery store is up, all due to our oil based economy.

"Everything that is transported, everything that moves by oil, all those prices go up and your wage stays the same," said Jane Treptow of Broward Community College.

Dr. Treptow, a BCC economist says as the price of fuel goes up, the less we have to spend on other things, and more businesses will feel the pinch too.

"That starts to chip in to eating out, which is a big industry in South Florida. You start to look at other areas where you can cut back," said Treptow.
