Monster.com Wants To Help You Get A Job

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― Just in time for the holiday and end-of-the-year bills and expenses, job-seeker website Monster.com has come to Fort Lauderdale in hopes of hooking you up with a job.

Potential employers are taking part in a job fair Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, 1881 SE 17th St.

About twenty companies have registered for the job fair, including retailers Bed Bath and Beyond, Staples and the Vitamin Shoppe, Orkin pest control and the city of Delray Beach.

Andrew Osias, who has been out of work for several months, made the rounds and handed out his resume.

"I started getting with recruiters because I think a lot of the things online, ah people aren't getting back to you. I've had some professional resume writers help me improve my resume," said Osias.

Osias said he's keeping his fingers crossed and is hoping some employer will give him a call, but he also realizes there are a lot of others just like him in need of a job.

"I think there are so many people applying it's going to be tough out there for a while," said Osias.

Lisa Kasiman, in the booth for Liberty Power, said they currently have two dozen positions open.

"We currently have positions in our IT area, in our accounting and finance department, in our customer service area and our marketing area," said Kasiman.

The fair is free to both employers and job-seekers. Monster's ``Keep America Working'' tour is hitting 100 U.S. cities.
