NASSAU, Bahamas (CBS4) ― The U.S. Coast Guard has recovered the bodies of 20 migrants from the sea near the Bahamas. The bodies include 19 Haitians and one Honduran.

A large scale search-and-rescue mission began Sunday around 7:00 a.m. after fishermen from the vessel "Lady In Red" heard people screaming in the water about 15 miles northwest of Nassau, Bahamas.
The Coast Guard was called to assist the Bahamian Air Sea Rescue Association (BASRA).

The first five bodies were found by a Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew around 10:00 a.m. The bodies were recovered from the water by a good Samaritan.

Nearly six hours later, at 3:45 p.m., a C-130 Hercules fixed-wing aircraft located the bodies of another 15 people and three survivors, according to Coast Guard spokesman Barry Bena. There was no sign of the boat that the people came from.

Authorities are interviewing the survivors to determine what happened and are continuing the search.
