Firefighters, Police Officers and First Responders Honored For Their Service
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
The Miami Dolphins regular season officially kicks off Sunday at Dolphin Stadium. In addition to all of the season opener festivities, the Dolphins will have a special tribute for South Florida's finest.
The Miami Dolphins will honor South Florida firefighters, police officers and first responders for their service to the community during their 2008 regular season home opener against the New York Jets on Sunday, September 7th at Dolphin Stadium.
The
Salute to Everyday Heroes will include police, fire and rescue equipment displays and interactive demonstrations by Miami-Dade Police, Miami-Dade Fire & Rescue, Broward Sheriff Office and Broward Sheriff Office Fire & Rescue on the Grand Plaza (Gate G) from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., an on-field salute with 200 officers and agents holding the American flag during the national anthem, the Miami Gardens Police presenting the colors, a flyover by Air Force F-16's, entertainment by the Pipe and Drum Corp and Fire Brigade Rock Band, as well as a special half-time performance by the Florida A & M University Marching 100 Band.
"It is an honor for us to be able to salute our police, fire and first responders and have 200 of these brave men and women alongside our players and coaches on the field for a special tribute," said Bryan Wiedmeier, President of the Miami Dolphins. "We salute their unselfish dedication."
A discounted ticket is available for all South Florida police, fire and first responders and their families and friends.
Five-dollars from every ticket purchased by these groups will be donated to one of the following four funds:
