Dolphins Playoff Tickets Become Hot Commodity

Tickets Are Sold Out

Dolphins Announce First One-day Sellout Of Playoff Tickets Since 1992

It didn't take long for the Dolphins to pull off a historic turnaround, and it didn't take their fans long to snatch up tickets to the Dolphins home playoff game this Sunday. Some fans camped out all night to be the first in line for their shot at a ticket. By early evening, tickets to the game were gone.

"Club level seats at $200, that's like a mortgage payment, $1200," said lifelong Dolphins fan Jeff Ahringer.

But even though some in line left with the tickets they were looking for, others ran into more problems than the Detroit Lions have. There was no limit on how many tickets you could buy for the game, and some dropped several thousands of dollars on tickets. Within minutes of the tickets going on sale, Ebay and Craigslist both had tickets to the game on their sites for several hundred or thousands of dollars over face value.

Playoff tickets had gone on sale at 9 Monday morning. Dozens of fans started camping out outside Dolphins Stadium shortly after the team defeated the New York Jets Sunday, 24-17. They brought lawn chairs; some brought tents. "I got two hours sleep," said one woman who had camped out in a tent.

Some complained their selection of tickets was limited because there was no limit on the number of tickets that individuals could buy and they said ticket brokers had made large purchases. "The guy in front of me just bought $4,000 worth of tickets," said one fan who was at the Stadium. "What can you do?"

A limited number of club seats and suites are still available for Sunday's game.  To purchase these tickets, call 305-623-6200 or email clubtix@dolphinstadium.com.

Most fans CBS4's Peter D'Oench spoke to said they plan on watching the game on CBS4 from home. (Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Sunday) But not being there in person isn't changing the way most fans feel about the Dolphins' success. "I just think the Dolphins are super. But I'm one of those who stick with the team regardless of what happens. I'm excited," said fan Liz Johnson.

The Dolphins will be making their first post-season appearance since 2001. The Fins were demolished by the Ravens that year, 20-3. The Ravens held Miami's offense to 151 total yards, while Miami's defense gave up 222 yards on the ground.

When the Dolphins and Ravens tangled during week 7 this year, the Ravens again came out on top, 27-13. In that game, the Dolphins two-headed running attack of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams only managed to generate 43 yards on the ground between them. But, since that loss, the Dolphins have racked up nine wins out of their last 10 games.
