Pennington On The Mark In Fins Debut
Williams Continues Strong Preseason
JACKSONVILLE, FL (CBS4) ―
Chad Pennington displayed his accuracy in his first preseason action as Miami Dolphins quarterback. Pennington completed 5 of 6 passes for 55 yards and engineered the team's only touchdown of game in just over a quarter of play.
The Dolphins beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-14 Saturday night to even their preseason record at 1-1.
Ricky Williams continued his strong preseason rushing ten times for 43 yards and scored on a four yard touchdown.
Chad Henne saw significant playing time completing 17-26 passes for 133 yards but did not lead the offense in the end zone.
Rookie kicker Dan Carpenter was perfect in his four field goal attempts. Carpenter is now Dolphins kicker after the team waived Jay Feely earlier in the week.
On the throwing end of some of Pennington's passes was wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr who totaled four receptions for 58 yards. Ginn's longest reception of the night was a 22 yarder from Pennington over the middle.
The Jaguars scored two late fourth quarter touchdowns, but the Dolphins defense dominated for the most part.
The defense forced a fumble in a goal line stand that was recovered in the end zone by Keith Davis. Cornerback Joey Thomas intercepted a Cleo Lemon pass on Jacksonville's opening drive of the third quarter. Matt Roth had the lone sack for the Dolphins.
