Dolphins Late Rally Falls Short As Jets Hang On
Pennington Throws Costly Interception
MIAMI GARDENS, FL (CBS4) ―
Chad Pennington had a chance to beat his former team late in the fourth quarter but was intercepted in the end zone as the New York Jets held off the Miami Dolphins 20-14.
Brett Favre threw two first half touchdowns in his Jets debut and Thomas Jones ran for 101 yards and added a touchdown as New York won its season opener in Miami.
The loss by the Dolphins spoiled the debut of head coach Tony Sparano.
Miami trailed 13-7 at the half and 20-7 in the fourth quarter before a late rally fell short. Pennington threw two touchdown passes in the loss before getting intercepted by Darrelle Revis in the end zone on a pass intented for Ted Ginn with :10 seconds left to play .
