Effort Picks Up On Day Two Of Fins Minicamp

Crowded Backfield For Rookie Running Backs

DAVIE (CBS4) ―

Rookies and undrafted free agents hit the practice field Saturday on day two of Dolphins minicamp at Nova Southeastern University.  Some of these players won't be around come the regular season so they are doing their best to impress the coaches.

Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano saw a different attitude from day one of minicamp.

"What I see in the second day is the effort… and seeing guys more sure about what they were doing," Sparano said.

It's a numbers game for some of these rookies and free agents.  Players like running back Lex Hilliard, a 2008 sixth round draft pick from Montana, will really need to impress because he's on a team with Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown.

"They have good running backs already, and I'm just doing the best that I can to get some eyes on me to make the 53 man roster," said Hilliard.

The true test for these players will be later on when they put on the pads.

"When you get down the road into pads that's where the real evaluator is and something we're looking forward to," Saparano said.

Minicamp wraps up Sunday May 4th.
