Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has confirmed that he will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery this week. Pennington was hurt in Sunday's loss in San Diego when he landed awkwardly on his shoulder.
Pennington will travel to Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday to meet with Dr. James Andrews before having Andrews perform surgery on Friday. Dr. Andrews performed surgery twice on Pennington's shoulder in 2005.
Pennington said he will not make any quick decisions about his career, and instead will start rehabilitation before deciding whether or not he should retire.
Second-year quarterback Chad Henne makes his starting debut for the Dolphins on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
