The Miami Dolphins Are Feeling Fergalicious

MIAMI (CBS4) ― "I've got a feeling" there could be more celebrity power joining the owner's box at the Miami Dolphins games. NFL owners have approved Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie as a part owner of the team; she's the latest celebrity to jump on the Dolphins' bandwagon as limited partner, but the team has yet to complete an agreement with her, Dolphins chief executive officer Mike Dee said in an e-mail Tuesday.

Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas currently have a marketing partnership with the Dolphins and will appear from time to time on the monitor during the games. She's wearing a pink Dolphins jersey in an October campaign for breast cancer awareness.

If an agreement can be worked out for Fergie to become a part owner, she would join a growing list of entertainment figures as owners of the Dolphins.

The first partnership was with singer Jimmy Buffett. The stadium was renamed Land Shark Stadium for this season to help promote Buffett's beer.

Musicians Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Marc Anthony, and tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams also bought small shares of the Dolphins.

All attended the Dolphins' home opener last month, and Anthony sang the national anthem Monday night, when the Dolphins won their second game in a row by beating the New York Jets 31-27. Gloria Estefan also teamed with Hank Williams Jr. in a bilingual version of "Are You Ready for Some Football?, which culminated the NFL'S celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The Estefans also helped produce and choreograph Monday night's halftime show.

Fergie, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson, is a Grammy-winning singer and an actress.

Ross has said his celebrity partnerships stir excitement and reflect the vibrancy of South Florida, and he envisions the Dolphins as a glamour team. He hopes Buffett and his celebrity investors turn home games into events, beginning with the carpet colored in Dolphins orange that celebrities walk on to enter the stadium.
