Taylor Hits The Practice Field With The Dolphins

Watch The Entire Press Conference With Jason Taylor In The Video Player

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The Dolphins off-season training activities kicked off again on Tuesday with a sight that will surely make many Dolphins fans extremely happy, Jason Taylor #99 in the defensive lineup. Tuesday's team activities were the second for Taylor since he signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins for $1.1 million. He told CBS4's Prim Siripipat while many things were the same, some things had changed.

"A lot of faces around here have changed, but the logo is still the same. It's still the Miami Dolphins, it's still bigger than everybody in the building and it's still where I love to be with the team that I have always loved, and gave me the first chance to play in this league," said Taylor. "So I honestly owe them a lot."

Taylor is 34-years-old and coming off an injury-plagued season with the Washington Redskins, who released him after the 2008 season. Still, he's only two seasons removed from being the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Dolphins' QB Chad Pennington said he's glad he and Taylor are finally on the same team.

"It's a little bit of a relief for me. I've had him on my backside for eight or nine years now, for eight years I had to deal with him twice a year and it wasn't a lot of fun," said Pennington

Defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualone was getting after all of his players during the team activities, even pulling Taylor aside for a quick tip on getting leverage against blockers. But Pasqualone has to be excited about the pass rushing possibilities with Taylor, Joey Porter, Cameron Wake, Channing Crowder, and Akin Ayodele at the linebacker positions.

Taylor was only one of the attractions taking the field at the Dolphins training facility. Many eyes were on quarterbacks Chad Henne and Pat White. Most experts believe Chad Henne will be the starter after the 2009 season, but the intrigue will come from the depth chart behind incumbent starter Chad Pennington.

If Henne is listed as the second-string quarterback, then White will likely not play much at the quarterback position due to NFL rules limiting the usage of a third-string quarterback during games.
