Dolphins Looking To Trade Jason Taylor For Picks
Team said to be looking for a first-round pick
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
The Miami Dolphins remain busy when it comes to the evolution of their roster. Reports say that at the same time the Dolphins were finalizing the deal for first-round pick Jake Long, the team was trying to find a trade partner for DE Jason Taylor, according to cbssports.com
The Dolphins are said to be looking for a mid-to-low first round draft pick for Taylor, which would be a very steep price for a defensive end who will be 34-years-old this year. The report directly contradicts statements from Dolphins vice president of football operations Bill Parcells who has said Taylor will not be dealt.
CBS Sports' report said one team general manager said, "What, we're going to give up a first-round draf pick for someone who turns 34 this year? I don't think so."
The Dolphins could be looking for a pass rusher if they can sneak back into the first round. Players like Kentwan Balmer and Calais Campbell could be available. The team doesn't seem to be interested in parting with their second-round pick, which scouts say could be targeting Michigan quarterback Chad Henne.
Taylor had his best season in 2006 when he had 62 tackles, 13.5 sacks, two interceptions, 10 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He has not missed a start the past eight seasons
