The Brett Favre soap opera may have ended with him landing with the New York Jets, but the repercussions from the trade could have an impact on the Miami Dolphins roster.
The Fins are reportedly interested in soon-to-be former Jets quarterback Chad Pennington. Dolphins president Bill Parcells is familiar with Pennington, who was an 18th pick of the New York Jets in 2000.
Pennington was a very well regarded quarterback from Marshall when he started his pro career. He's never had a very strong arm, instead depending on other intangibles to be successful.
The quarterback has been very prone to injuries during his pro career. He's missed over a dozen games throughout his career and has had multiple surgeries on his rotator cuff on his throwing shoulder.
Should the Dolphins pursue Pennington, it may be a sign of problems with the current crop of quarterbacks in training camp. Still, he is a knowledgeable veteran who could keep the position steady until rookie Chad Henne is ready to play.
