NEW YORK, NY (CBS4) ―
The Dolphins got defensive in the second round by selecting Clemson defensive lineman Phillip Merling.
Merling started 26 of the 38 games he played at Clemson. He recorded 146 tackles and registered 12 sacks in his career. The 6'5 272 pound lineman added four forced fumbles, had one fumble recovery and deflected seven passes. He earned ACC Player of the Week honors three times in 2007.
The Dolphins made a draft day deal with the Philadelphia Eagles as Miami sent second year running back Lorenzo Booker to Philadelphia for a fourth round draft choice in the draft.
