Dolphins' Player Arrested On SOBE

Randy Starks Played With The Dolphins For Two Seasons

He's Charged With Aggravated Battery On A Police Officer

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ― A Miami Dolphins player was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly struck a police officer with a truck on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach.

Defensive end Randy Starks, 25, has been charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

Stark was heading south in bumper to bumper traffic around midnight when an officer standing near 7th Street noticed he had 13 people in freightliner truck cab which only seats four, including a woman who was sitting on his lap.

When the officer went up to the truck and rapped on the rear panel to get the truck to stop, Starks allegedly kept driving. Around 6th Street the officer caught up with the truck and banged on a rear panel again, this time the truck stopped.  Just as he was approaching the vehicle's driver's side door, the officer said the truck started moving forward and to the left, striking him in the chest and pinning him to stopped vehicle in the northbound lane. A second officer ran up and started banging on the passenger's side window, which caused Starks to stop at which time he was placed under arrest.

A check of the vehicle's license plate showed that the tag was not registered to that specific truck. He has since been released from jail on $10,000 bond.

Starks has been with the Dolphins for two seasons.  He's started in four games and has played reserve in a dozen others.
