After the Dolphins latest practice, it's safe to say that the team's patience with wide receiver Ted Ginn, Jr. is finally running out. According to the Palm Beach Post, Ginn was on the sideline when the 1st and 2nd team offenses ran plays at the beginning of practice on Wednesday.
Ginn would go on to drop an over-the-should catch in the end zone during one-on-one passing drills, something Dolphins fans have gotten used to during the 2009 season. Ginn dropped three passes during a loss to the Saints last Sunday, including one that led to Saints player intercepting the ball and returning it for a touchdown.
Ginn has been surrounded by controversy since he was picked in the top 10 of a draft just a few years ago. Ginn's career was made when he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown during the National Championship game against the Florida Gators just a few years ago. When he was drafted, the Dolphins fans in attendance of the draft party were upset and more or less disgusted with then coach Cam Cameron for the pick.
But Ginn has never been able to live up to his high draft status. He's not been a primary kick or punt return specialist and has struggled trying to become a number one receiver in the NFL. He's been outplayed by Davone Bess, an undrafted free agent out of Hawaii.
Among the players picked after Ginn in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft: 49ers middle linebacker Patrick Willis, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, and Bills running back Marshawn Lynch.
