The Miami Dolphins have acquired another quarterback to add to the mix after starting quarterback Chad Pennington was lost for the season due to injury during last Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs traded the rights to Tyler Thigpen to the Dolphins on Monday, according to ESPN.
Thigpen was reportedly on the trade block after the Chiefs traded for former Patriots quarterback Matt Cassell and had backup quarterback Brody Croyle already on the roster.
Thigpen will likely provide depth on the Dolphins roster, but may challenge rookie Pat White for the backup quarterback job. For his career, Thigpen has thrown for 2,649 yards with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
