The Hip-Hop Soda Shop is now open for business in South Florida. It may look like your ordinary café or restaurantbut it's not. It's an award winning franchise with a hip-hop flare featuring a live DJ and several XBOX 360 Live video games hooked up to 40 plus HD video screens.
Hip-Hop superstar Fat Joe was on hand for the Soda Shop's red carpet welcome and fully supports the restaurant's business endeavors: "The hip-hop community probably bought the 99 billion burgers from McDonalds you know, so it's about time we get our own shop and empower our own man, that's what it's about."
Even parents are on board.
Single mother Cheryl Coleman says " I actually like it...being a single mom of four seeing that they have somewhere they can come is nice and pleasant is great."
But nobody could be more excited than the two young men who came up with the unique concept that started in their dorm room: Jamar "J. Nice" McNeil and Brian "H3" Peters, Peters says he's happy to bring the franchise to Miami Gardens because "we want to support the community that supports Hip-Hop."
McNeil and Peters are getting some corporate backing as well, receiving support from the former head of the NAACP, Dr. Benjamin Chavis who says the restaurant will definitely help promote positive values.
XBOX General Manager of Marketing
Mike Fischer is also on board and looking towards the future. Fischer says the "T here's nothing like this in the world. And we're right here on the ground floor. One day there's going to be a hip-hop soda shop in every city in America. And we can say that we were here first." The Hip-Hop Soda Shop is located at 2710 NW 167th Street in Miami Gardens and it's the second franchise of it's kind in the country with the first being located in Tampa.
