Fans of Transformers are in for the ride of their life when two Universal Studios theme parks open a new ride based on the hit movie.
Unfortunately, the giant robots which are heading for Hollywood and Singapore, are not coming to Florida.
A new theme-park ride based on the hit movie "Transformers" is being developed for Universal Studios, the company announced Monday.
The new rides, scheduled to debut in 2011, incorporate robotics and 3-D, high-definition technology.
Hasbro Inc. and DreamWorks Pictures are helping to create the new ride, and "Transformers" director Michael Bay and producer Steven Spielberg will consult on its development, said Tom Williams, chairman and chief executive of Universal Parks & Resorts.
The ride, like the film, shows humans caught in an intergalactic war between armies of giant robots that can change into cars, planes and other technological creations.
The ride should be ready to thrill visitors to Universal Studios Singapore in early 2011. "Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron are familiar names to Asian audiences, who grew up with the robot toys and love the movie," said Tan Hee Teck, CEO of Resorts World at Sentosa, which will be home to Universal Studios Singapore. Resorts World is scheduled to open in 2010.
The attraction will debut at Universal Studios Hollywood after the unveiling in Asia. There are no plans right now to build the attraction at Universal Studios Florida.
Meanwhile, Michael Bay, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and other stars of the movie have been busy putting Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen together in time for its June 2009 release.
