Cheap Eats Abound In South Florida

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ― In the current economy, finding cheap eats are a must. But, you can still find some excellent food that'll please both your taste buds and your wallet.

The name isn't a deception for one South Beach restaurant. It's called the 8 oz. Burger Bar and you get quite a lot packed in that 8 oz burger. The first 8 oz. Burger Bar is in Los Angeles, but the one on South Beach opened on Super Bowl Sunday 2009. The Burger Bar makes quite a promise to all of its potential patrons.

"We serve hormone free, steroid free, antibiotic free meat," owner Eric Fried told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo. "It's a house blend of sirloin, tri trips, short rib, and chuck. It ages in a Himalayan salt brick, everything is made from scratch."

Plus, if burgers aren't your cup of tea, you may catch the chicken wings on select nights. "On Marlins game nights, we offer 20 cent chicken wings from the first to the ninth innings and $3 beers during those games," said Fried.

From South Beach, you can find more cheap eats on Dania Beach. There, you'll find Shenanigans Eastside Pub, a family owned and operated eatery is the second and newest location for owner Patrick Utter, who's been in business for 17 years.

"Shenanigans means playing around," said Utter. "It's about great people, it's about great food, great friendships. It's for people that love sports, for people who enjoy having a great time."

From burgers, to pizzas, to chicken wings and more, most of the menu is under 10 bucks. On Tuesdays, frozen margaritas are 99 cents. "It's the type of place where we don't want people to come here once a month or on special occasions, we have people come here 3,4, or 5 times a week," Utter said.
