Tamarac Woman Honored For Heroic Actions

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The city of Tamarac honored Maria Ladono on Wednesday for her heroism that helped save three lives in April of 2009. Ladono had pulled up to Lillian Corenthal's house, where she worked, and found Corenthal and her two grown children unconscious.

Someone had left a car running in the garage, and the entire family was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. Corenthal's daughter still remembers the day Ladono saved her life.

"She came…and she called 911, and she roused us all up and stayed with us until the paramedics came, and then it was a happy day," said Roberta Brugg.

October 14, 2009 was officially declared "Maria Ladono Day" in Tamarac for her actions.
