Day 4: Oprah's Best Life Week Focuses On Finances

All week long Oprah Winfrey has been encouraging all of us to live our best lives and Thursday, money is on her mind. Most Americans have felt the economic crisis in some way or another and that's why Oprah wants to help us all create a financial plan in the New Year.
"If you want to get your money in order and create a financial plan to last you well beyond the year of 2009 this is an hour you need to take notes on," said Winfrey.
The stock market, foreclosures and credit card debt made 2008 a rough year and the forecast has been dim for 2009.
On day 4 of Oprah's Best Life Week, she's got free financial advice we can all use right now.
"People are so worried about saving their homes, trying to get out of debt, saving for retirement," said financial expert Suze Orman. Winfrey calls Orman the Master Blaster when it comes to money. "She's going to help you get on track," said Winfrey.
"The biggest mistake people make with their credit cards and their money is that they spend money that they don't have to impress people they don't even know or like," warned Orman. Her best advice is put those credit cards away.
"They think that it's okay to charge something they can't afford. The bill comes in and all they do is pay the minimum every single month. But a little debt adds up to a lot of debt, cautions Orman.
The financial expert and author wrote a book just for this week called the 2009 Action Plan that can help us all build a better financial foundation.
'We're going to have an action that solves your situation that you're in. So that you can live your best financial life not just for 2009 but for every year thereafter, said Orman.
On Friday, January 9th, it's all about relationships, intimacy and sex with Dr. Laura Berman.
Winfrey is also hosting interactive live Web casts at Oprah.com the week of Jan. 12 to 16 every night at 9:00 p.m.
