Jay-Z Rocks Out Voter Registrations In Miami

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The Presidential election is just 30 days away, and the deadline to register to vote is Monday! Both campaigns are doing what they can to sign-up and draw in as many voters as possible.

Grammy award-winner Jay-Z and Wyclef Jean gave music fans who are registered to vote a free concert at Miami's Bayfront Park Amphitheatre Sunday night. Florida is a battleground state, and young voters could push Obama over the edge in the general election.

22-year-old Yosi Valero registered for the first time Sunday. "I know that my vote does matter. So I just came out here. I don't know too much information, but I came out here, spoke to the correct people, and they registered me to vote."

Jay-Z was, of course, a nice incentive. "I can't believe I got to sit up front," one Obama campaign volunteer cheered. The campaign gave away more than 10,000 free tickets for Sunday night's concert.

Democrats weren't the only people pushing registrations. James Johnson took advantage of the drive to update his voting address.

South Florida Republican didn't host a last-minute voter registration drive, but in Palm Beach County, Hillary-turned-McCain supporter Lynn Forester De Rothschild held a town hall meeting.

"I encourage everybody to go vote and register. This is the most important election we've had since World War II," she said.

Both campaigns are keeping a close eye on the Sunshine state. Both desperately want to win the state's 27 electoral votes.
