E-Mail Us your suggestions for South Florida's best Cheap Eats.
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
If you're hungry for a good meal but don't want to spend a fortune, you've come to the right place.
CBS4'S Lisa Petrillo has another "Cheap Eats" report where she puts her taste buds to the test in order to find some of South Florida's best restaurants with delicious meals under ten dollars.
This time, she began her search in Fort Lauderdale where a little bit of Paris has come to the city. You can rendezvous at "Rendez Vous French Bakery and Bistro", located at 1576 E. Oakland Park Blvd., where there's always the delicious smell of freshly baked breads, and pastries. The owner, who also has a second bistro in Aventura, serves up everything from quiche to seafood crepes and salads but the most popular sandwich under ten dollars is the chicken cheese sandwich.
From a Parisian bakery to good old American meat patties, "Twenty One Toppings" located off Biscayne Boulevard, located at 14480 Biscayne Blvd., in North Miami in a fine place for a great burger and like the name suggests, customers have 21 toppings to choose from.
There's shredded carrots, avocado, cole slaw, pickles, tomatoes, and even alfalfa sprouts.
A burger with a soda runs $7.50 which means there's money left over for gourmet French fries or onion rings.
If a pizza pie catches your eye, then try "Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza", located at 17901 Biscayne Blvd., in Aventura.
The chef created a mozzarella tomato basil pizza pie and baked it in a real coal fired oven at 9-hundred degrees. Three and a half minutes later, it's done and delicious. "To me the key to a great pizza is a thin crispy dough, a good sauce and a great cheese," said Maria Delegal, co-owner of Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza.
Moving into Doral, it's franks with an attitude at "Franktitude", located 2600 NW 87th Avenue. The first franchise opened a year ago and now there are five throughout Miami-Dade. It features frank wraps, frank salads and frank sandwiches. You name your frank and they've got it, including all beef, chicken or veggie franks. One special, a chili cheese frank with beef sells for only $2-dollars.
Also in Doral, "Eat A Pita", located at 2721 NW 79th Avenue, where owner Lily Fonticoba serves up fresh sandwiches, salads and smoothies with a very friendly attitude. Lisa's favorite is the tuna pita, no sprouts with ginger dressing. The pita is packed with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, carrots, and beets, wrapped with a side of ginger dressing. It's fresh food with natural ingredients that keep customers like Lisa loyal "Eat A Pita" customers. Each meal runs about $5 dollars and change.
