Major weekend construction and a scheduled traffic shift on SR-874 has been canceled. Officials at the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority have decided the postpone the shift to accommodate the thousands of aircraft enthusiasts who will funnel into town for the "Wings Over Homestead," air show.
Homestead's Air Reserve Base is right off of the Turnpike's Homestead Extension. The Don Shula Expressway is a major artery feeding into the Turnpike and officials are expecting traffic on SR-874 to be much busier than normal because of the free two day event.
