SR-874 Weekend Traffic Shift: Canceled

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Major weekend construction and a scheduled traffic shift on SR-874 has been canceled. Officials at the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority have decided the postpone the shift to accommodate the thousands of aircraft enthusiasts who will funnel into town for the "Wings Over Homestead," air show.

Homestead's Air Reserve Base is right off of the Turnpike's Homestead Extension. The Don Shula Expressway is a major artery feeding into the Turnpike and officials are expecting traffic on SR-874 to be much busier than normal because of the free two day event.

The traffic shift for the Don Shula Expressway has been pushed back to next Friday November,13 at 9:00 p.m.

The shift will extend from the Snapper Creek Expressway/SR-878 to SW 104th St/Killian Parkway. Along with lane reductions, motorists are also advised that there will be a reduced speed limit while traveling through the construction zone and may face heavy delays.

Traffic will return to the normal pattern on Monday November,16 at 5:30 a.m.
