Used Cars For Gas Price Conscious Car Buyers

MIAMI (CBS4) ― With gas prices on the rise, car shoppers who usually consider price and lifestyle when buying a car may also consider the rising price of gas in their buying decision. Vehicles with lower cylinders will usually have better fuel efficiency.  

Carmax has put together what it considers the most economical used vehicles for gasoline.
      
Some of the fuel-efficient used cars included in the company's survey:


Smaller Sport Utility Vehicles: Ford Escape Hybrid, Saturn Vue Hybrid, Mercury Mariner Hybrid, Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass (all average more than 23 miles per gallon)

Medium Sport Utility Vehicles: Subaru Forester, Honda Element, Mercedes R320 CDI, BMW X3 and Hyundai Santa Fe (all average more than 20 miles per gallon)

Compact Vehicles: Toyota Echo, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, Mini Cooper, Honda Fit and Honda Civic Hybrid (all average more than 30 miles per gallon)

Mid-size Vehicles: Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry Hybrid, Nissan Altima, Chevrolet Malibu and Honda Accord (all average better than 24 miles per gallon)

Luxury Sedans: Mercedes Benz Blue Tec, Lexus GS 450h, Lexus ES 350, GS 350, BMW 525I and BMW 530I (all average over 21 miles per gallon)

Pickup Trucks: Ford Ranger, Mazda B2300, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma (all average more than 20 miles per gallon)

Hybrids: Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Ford Escape, Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Saturn Aura, Saturn Vue, Mercury Mariner, Toyota Highlander, Lexus RX 400h, Lexus GS 450h, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Honda Insight and Mazda Tribute.
