Gas Prices Down Nearly A Dime In The Last Week

Miami-Dade Averaging $2.63/Gallon Unleaded

Broward Averaging $2.59/Gallon Unleaded

ORLANDO (CBS4) ― Good news for families planning a road trip this month; the price at the pump is down nationwide.

The American Automobile Association reports nationwide the price for regular unleaded has dropped 8 cents in the last week to about $2.54 a gallon. Florida drivers have seen the price drop by about 7 cents to $2.58 a gallon in the last week.  Last year at this time, a regular unleaded was averaging $4.10 a gallon nationwide and $4.06 in Florida.

AAA says a drop in crude prices in the last week combined with a sluggish economy have contributed to the fall in prices at the pump.

"Retail gasoline prices are impacted by a variety of factors, some of which also have a direct bearing on crude oil but, there's no doubt the current downward trend for crude is greatly influencing the daily declines in the price at the pump," Gregg Laskoski said in a written statement from AAA Auto Club South.

In Miami Dade drivers are paying a bit more than the state average. Unleaded regular is averaging $2.63 a gallon; down from $2.71 a week ago but a lot lower than the $4.15 it was averaging last year at this time. In Broward drivers are paying about $2.59 for a gallon of regular unleaded compared to about $2.68 a week ago. A year ago, Broward drivers were paying $4.14 for a gallon of unleaded regular.
