Florida Drivers Paying More As Pump Prices Drop

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The price at the pump has eased just a bit across the nation, but Floridians are still paying more than the national average and South Florida drivers are paying even more than that.

Triple-A reports nationwide gas prices dropped about a nickel a gallon over last week to about $3.02. The auto club attributes the drops to a slowing economy and growing crude oil and gasoline inventories.

Florida drivers are paying more than the national average; statewide regular unleaded is selling for about $3.10 a gallon.

In Ft. Lauderdale, a gallon of regular unleaded is averaging $3.13, that's up from $2.29 from a year ago. Miami Dade drivers are averaging $3.15 a gallon for regular unleaded; a year ago that same gallon only cost $2.26 on average.

CBS4's Eye on the Pump has the lowest prices in your neighborhood.

Drivers in West Palm Beach – Boca Raton are paying the highest prices at the pump; a gallon of regular unleaded averaging about $3.17 a gallon. Tallahassee has the cheapest gas in the state with regular unleaded selling for about $3.03 a gallon.
