Gas Prices Edging Up As Summer Approaches

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The price at the pump is slowly edging up across the state as we approach the busy summertime vacation travel season.

Nationwide gas prices have reached an average of $3.30 for a gallon of unleaded regular and expected to top $3.50 later this spring.

Florida drivers are paying a lot more than the national average; statewide regular unleaded is selling for about $3.38 for a gallon of regular unleaded, $3.52 for a gallon of mid-grade and $3.73 for a gallon of premium.

In Ft. Lauderdale, a gallon of regular unleaded is averaging $3.39, that's up from $3.27 from a month ago and $2.70 from a year ago. Miami Dade drivers are averaging $3.40 a gallon for regular unleaded; that's up from $3.32 a month ago and a year ago that same gallon only cost $2.76 on average.

Drivers in West Palm Beach – Boca Raton are paying the highest prices at the pump; a gallon of regular unleaded averaging about $3.45 for a gallon of unleaded. Pensacola has the cheapest gas in the state with regular unleaded selling for about $3.31 a gallon.
