Gas Prices Edge Up Over $2 In South Florida

ORLANDO (CBS4) ― As the price at the pump edges up over two bucks across most of South Florida it's still no where close to what we were paying a year ago.

AAA reports gas prices have risen 17 cents on average in Florida over the past month. Statewide, regular unleaded is averaging $1.99 a gallon as of Monday, February 9th. This time last year it was averaging around $3.05 a gallon. Prices in Florida are a bit higher than the national average of $1.92 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

In Miami Dade drivers are paying are more than both the state and national average; unleaded regular is averaging $2.01 a gallon. In Broward drivers are paying even more - about $2.04 a gallon.

The most expensive area in the state to fill up is West Palm Beach were regular unleaded is averaging $2.08 a gallon. Orlando and Tampa have the cheapest prices in the state, unleaded regular is averaging $1.93 a gallon.
