CBS Is An EcoZone Green School Sponsor

Corrected and Updated

MIAMI (CBS4) ― CBS has teamed up with EcoZone to launch the highly anticipated Green Schools Initiative. It's a contest, called "Green My School", that will bring green makeover projects valued at more than $100 Thousand to a grand-prize winning school in Miami or San Francisco.

Details about the contest were announced Wednesday morning at MAST Academy on Virginia Key by Miami Mayor Manny Diaz and EcoMedia Founder & CEO, Paul Polizzotto.

They were also joined by WFOR/WBFS President and General Manager Shaun McDonald, Miami-Dade School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, Technical Consumer Products CEO Ellis Yan, U.S. Green Building Council CEO Rick Federizzi and Jack Dunnigan, Assistant Administrator of National Oceanic & Atmospheric Agency (NOAA).

The contest, developed by EcoMedia, is available to all public schools within the cities of Miami and San Francisco. Participation by students, teachers and administrators is required. Each school will be asked to submit a short standard form including a creative component expressing what being green means to them, and why their school should receive a green makeover.

The winning school's green makeover, worth more than $100 thouand, will be overseen by a green coach from the U.S. Green Building Council. In addition to choosing a school to enjoy the benefits of a green school makeover, the project works with all the partners to leave behind a sustainable program for schools that participate in the contest. EcoZone Green Schools Sponsors currently include CBS Corporation, TCP, and NOAA.
