Schwarzenegger In Miami For Climate Forum

Business Can Profit From Cleaning Up The Environment

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Gov. Charlie Crist's second summit on global warming ends on Thursday in downtown Miami with a strong emphasis on how business can profit by cleaning up the environment.

With an estimated 800 persons gathered at the Hotel InterContinental in downtown Miami, Miami Mayor Manny Diaz spoke in the morning about how he was working hard to make for a green city where people can ``work, live and play all within walking distance.''

Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger who attended Crist's first conference in July 2007 spoke in the afternoon about combating global warming by setting goals for reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

He emphasized finding new ways to feed America's addiction to oil isn't the answer to rising fuel prices.

He said the country needs a consistent, long-term energy policy that will reduce costs and protect the environment.

Schwarzenegger urged the conference-goers to take the initiative to invest in green technology for their businesses and buy more fuel efficient cars for themselves. The governor vouched for an electric car he tried out recently, promising that along with having no damaging emissions, "it looked sexy."
