Sisters Hoping To Make Snack Machines Healthy
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
For many people, a trip to the vending machine in the break room will often substitute for lunch on a given day. But two South Florida sisters hope that they can make that trip to the snack machine healthy and help slim your waistline.
Jennie and Rebecca Albano founded Natural Choice Vending after they were tired of feeding money into empty calories, like those from snacks in most snack machines.
Both Jennie and Rebecca are vegetarian and hope the all-natural, organic snacks will give people more energy than a typical snack.
"We are trying to bring vending into the 21st century, cause for some reason, vending is sort of the last bastian of terrible food that people seem to eat and feel guilty about, but it's kind of a necessity because they are stuck at work and the only choices are bad, worse, terrible, and maybe a pretzel or granola bar or something like that," said Jennie Albano.
The sister have six machines already in use in South Florida, including one at the Miami Herald. They are currently trying to get their product into schools to give students a healthier alternative. By the way, the sisters said that the snacks will not only be good for you, but also easy on your wallet as they will have comparable prices to chips and candy bars.
