MIAMI (CBS4) ― The tough economy may be forcing you to cut back on your family's healthcare coverage, but it doesn't have to. CBS4's Gwen Belton shows you how you might benefit from a specific type of health insurance.

20-year-old K.C. Perez is shopping for health insurance, but on her salary as a waitress she's looking to find affordable coverage.

Perez's search for a good deal led her to the Blue Cross Blue Shield "Blue Store" in Pembroke Pines.

"It's like looking for shoes or anything else," said Perez.

The store—the first of its kind in Florida—offers health insurance plans as low as $20 a month, as well as more traditional policies.

It's called Family Blue. It allows a family of six to get discounts on services throughout participating providers.

Participants get what is called the Blue Card. It allows participants to tailor their plans to their specific needs, whether it is dental, vision or medical.

It's designed to be budget friendly. For example: An average office visit to the doctor will cost you about $99. With Family Blue you pay $67, a savings of $32.

This is aimed at people who don't' have or can't afford traditional insurance, people like K.C. Perez who says she can't afford to be without health coverage.
