This past summer,
CBS4 held the Subway Get Fit Challenge. During the intense three month contest, the winner TJ Brooks lost 72 pounds and he is still going strong.
Five months ago, TJ caught the attention of the judges during his interview when he explained his reason for joining the Get Fit Challenge. He said he had recently been stranded at sea with a friend and the boat had overturned. It became a "life changing" event because, "being overweight over weight in that situation was hard. My friend was able to get on top of the boat but since I was so over weight I couldn't climb up on the boat so I had to tie myself to the boat and stay in the water for that time." He ended up treaded water for 18 hours.
But that was TJ then and the new TJ doesn't even believe that guy existed.
In the two months since the contest has ended, TJ has lost another 32 pounds. That brings his total weight loss to 104 pounds. He started five months ago at 395 pounds and now weighs 291.
"I really made a life change. I stuck to it. I'm on the right track," said TJ Brooks.
TJ says he couldn't have done it without his trainer, Jason Goodrich.
"Everything I tell him to do he does, it's no questions asked," said Goodrich.
TJ isn't done yet. He wants to keep losing and has his next goal in mind.
"My goal now is 250 pounds by the end of November then 200 pounds by the summer," said TJ.
Keep up the good work TJ.
