Physician-Endorsed Hats Are Fashionable And Safe

The fashion accessories are actually endorsed by physicians for their sun protection factor.

It's time to toss out those tired old fishing hats and try on some fashionable headwear designed to keep you looking great, while keeping you protected from the sun's dangerous rays.
They're called Physician-Endorsed products: a fashion-forward line of hats and sunglasses created by a South Florida hat designer named Elissa Margulies.
"I love to hike and ride my bike and roller blade," says Margulies. "I really didn't want to look like a fisherwoman or a bee keeper, so I came with the concept of physician endorsed. It's sun-protection with style."
The hats are all independently tested to guarantee a protection factor of 50+, so we're not talking straw.
Margulies told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo, "If you can see the sun through your hat, it can see you back." They had to find fabrics that were light weight and comfortable yet tightly-woven enough to protect from the sun.
The sunglasses have wide brims to protect the eyes on the sides, and Margulies points out, "When you put them on you have diva wear with 400 UVA/UVB lens."
Stars such as Marcia Cross, Paris Hilton and Heather Locklear all have Physician- Endorsed products, and the name is true; Dr. Leslie Baumann, a dermatologist at the University of Miami School of Medicine, sells the hats in her office and says she's also a client.
"The minute I saw the hats I wanted to start selling them in my office at UM and here in Miami Beach," Baumann raved. "It's a common complaint of the women I play golf with. We all know we're supposed to wear hats, but they're ugly and uncomfortable and this line of hats ranges in options in styles, so it fits everyone."
There are more than 30 styles of hats and sunglasses to choose from.
Physician endorsed products can be found in major department stores and in doctors offices, and online.
