Website Offers To Pay For Breast Augmentation

(CBS) Breast augmentation has become one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the country. But for many women, the costs have outweighed the benefits. Now, a website is letting women find a group of buddies who can help with the cost.

Some women pay for the surgery up front, but the costs are extreme for some.

"In general, somewhere between $4500 and $8000 for a set of implants," said Dr. Jason Ponzer, a Boca Raton plastic surgeon.

So to help with the costs, enter the website myfreeimplants.com. Once you get to the site, a woman creates a profile and posts the amount of money needed for the surgery. Then male benefactors sign up and send emails for a small price to the women, or give them larger donations.

Lynn Bobitz, a mother and model, couldn't afford to spare thousands of dollars for implants decided to give the site a try. She raised almost $6,000 and was able to pay for her surgery.

Jay Moore, who founded myfreeimplants says nudity and pornography aren't allowed and the site is up front about the whole process. "Women are marketing themselves by yes, using their bodies, and it happens in every industry," Moore said.

Surgeons are paid directly from the site, but Dr. Ponzer sees a problem with the perception of the augmentation process. "Overall, I think it hurts cosmetic surgery, I think it cheapens it a little bit," Ponzer said.
