4 Years Wanting A Child, A Couple Gets Quadruplets

MIAMI (CBS4) ― For four years, Julio Medina and his wife, Marlene, tried to have children. After four fertility treatments, the couple had four babies born prematurely but healthy at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Four weeks after birth, the quads are going to their new home.

"This is Anahi; that's Julio; Tatiana; and Diego," said Julio, a very happy Dad, indeed.

Dr. Victor Gonzalez-Quintero at Jackson Memorial Hospital delivered the quadruplets who were born, well, just about four minutes apart.

Dr. Gonzalez-Quintero said "We already knew the names, and one by one we were showing them the babies."

Born at 32 weeks, the two girls and the two boys had to be hospitalized because their lungs were immature, but healthy.

Dr. Ilene Sosenko added, "The state of their health is excellent. It was excellent that their mother could carry them to 32 weeks. And they all weighed in the three-pound range."

And just after -  you guessed it - four weeks, this fantastic foursome is heading home.

"They're actually going home before their due date," mentioned Dr. Sosenko.

These proud parents are looking forward to four times the joy, and four times work. Added Julio,
"Their future is in on our hands right now, and we have to give them our best."
