Signs Your Relationship Is Heading For Splitsville
5 Signs That Your Relationship Could Be In Trouble
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
As singer Neil Sedaka once sang "breaking up is hard to do."
No matter how good looking you are, no matter how rich or famous, just about everyone has been dumped. While for some it comes as a surprise, dating coach Dan Silverman says there are some signs that one partner is about to break it off with their 'significant other."
"A lot of times they do it without really knowing they are doing it," Silverman, "they do it unconsciously."
So what are the five biggest break-up signs?
First, Silverman says to look for so-called 'nothing' fights.
"If the fights are about absolutely nothing, and it's because you are annoyed and you hate each other, obviously you guys are going to be breaking up very soon," said Silverman.
Forgetting to call once in a while normal, but when it happens often it could mean 'out of sight, out of mind'.
Another sign; constant criticism.
"If they start noticing things about you that are negative, much more than the positive, they are starting to see you in a negative light," said Silverman.
Also, a sudden change in behavior like a like a partner suddenly hitting the gym, or hitting the bottle, could signal the end is near.
And finally; a loss of interest. Silverman said if the relationship is relatively new look for a loss of sexual interest. For partners who have been involved for a while, Silverman says look for a loss of personal interest.
"If they seem to be distancing themselves from you," said Silverman, "that's a sign they are losing the attraction for you."
Silverman said an important point to remember is that these are just signs, and not certainties.
"It just means that the relationship is in danger, but there are steps and actions to take, don't panic," said Silverman, "do things about it."
On a final note,
CBS4's Dr. Sean Keniff says we've all heard pick up lines, but when a relationship is in trouble partners should listen for break up lines like "It's not you, it's me" or "I need space."
